Use one metal and US dollars throughout. Enter written quotes from the same time. Use 0 only for a confirmed zero charge; leave unknown costs blank. Do not add a premium twice.

Amounts stay on this page, are not submitted with a guide request, and clear when you reload. Keep account and payment details out of these fields.

Your comparison

Complete the first six numeric fields in either quote to calculate that quote. Quantity must be a positive whole number, weight and unit price positive, and charges nonnegative.

Quote A

Enter the complete purchase amounts to calculate this quote.

Quote B

Enter the complete purchase amounts to calculate this quote.

For resale, enter both the total bid and selling charges; charges cannot exceed the bid. A reference must be positive to calculate a premium. This worksheet does not estimate tax, future prices, storage costs you have not entered or investment returns. It does not rank sellers.

01

How the gold and silver cost calculator works

Total fine ounces equal the number of pieces multiplied by the fine troy ounces in each piece. Product subtotal equals quantity times price per piece. The purchase total adds shipping, insurance, applicable tax and other entered charges. Divide that total by fine ounces for the cost per fine ounce.

02

Keep a product premium separate from additional charges

If you enter a spot reference, the worksheet compares the product subtotal with fine ounces multiplied by that reference. The premium percentage divides that difference by the reference value. Shipping and tax affect the delivered cost but are not included in this product-premium calculation. The reference is supplied by you, not a live feed.

Understand spot prices, premiums and resale bids

03

Record the terms alongside the price

Compare the metal, exact product, condition and quote time. For mixed products, prepare a separate comparison for each. A lower cost per ounce does not make different products or seller terms equivalent.

  • Keep the written quote and its expiration.
  • Confirm payment, delivery, insurance and claim terms before paying.
  • If a fee is unknown, request the amount rather than entering zero.

Use the physical gold and silver delivery checklist

04

Read a resale comparison without treating it as a forecast

Net resale proceeds equal the entered bid for the entire order minus selling charges. The purchase-to-resale difference uses those quotes only. A bid may change or expire, and storage costs, future charges and market movements can change your outcome. This tool does not predict returns or place an order.
